Atlantic Regional HIV/AIDS Treatment Information
Program
Do you have questions about HIV/AIDS
treatments?
What are protease inhibitors?
How can massage therapy help?
What is viral load testing?
What are clinical trials?
How can I get involved?
You can find the answers to these and other HIV/AIDS questions by using
the Internet
With rapid advances in health care and the introduction
of new HIV/AIDS drugs,
many people are left with questions. The Internet is fast becoming an excellent
way of quickly obtaining HIV/AIDS treatment information. Treatment information
counsellors, along with your physician and family, can help you make decisions
about your treatment options.
The Internet can provide up-to-date information
on HIV/AIDS treatments including:
HIV drugs
(e.g. protease inhibitors, combination therapy)
Complementary therapies
(e.g. massage, acupuncture, naturopathy, homeopathy)
Clinical trials
(for treatment of HIV/AIDS and opportunistic infections)
"I've never used the Internet before. I wouldn't know where to look
or what to look for..."
Don't let the Internet worry you. We have volunteers
and staff on hand who have
been trained in using the Internet. They can help you learn how to use
the
computer and the Internet (for FREE) to find the most up-to-date treatment
information, to make your own informed treatment decisions.
If you have the Internet at home, we offer telephone
support to help you find useful web sites.
"There's so much information and so many choices. How do I decide?"
Due to the huge amount of information available,
sometimes it's hard to determine
what is right for you. We can help you find trained peer counsellors and
other
services to help you sort things out. With their assistance you can learn
the skills
you need to find resources and to make informed treatment choices.
The Atlantic Regional HIV/AIDS Treatment Information
project is an initiative of
community-based AIDS organizations from around the Atlantic region.
